WASHINGTON – If there’s a painless way to whittle down the nation’s $16 trillion debt, nobody has found it. Which is why the federal budget ax known as “sequestration” appears all but certain to fall on Friday.

Obama added over six trillion dollars to the deficit in less than four years. His estimated year five budget deficit is estimated at 1.4 trillion right now. Direct your anger at the proper people, and take off your Obama blinders. This guy have been the biggest political failure in our country's history. Blame, divide, and bankrupt.

wowjustwow, nobody is buying this same old republican chant any longer. It's over, we are not idiots as proven by the last election. Get your party on board to get to work and stop the finger pointing.

It's over, we are not idiots as proven by the last election --- opinions vary....start relying less on government. Stop yearning to be ruled.

Awhile back a bigwig in a Minnesota Association of Social Workers sent out a statewide Email appeal for County Social Workers to send in personal accounts of just how a 1% cut in a certain statewide program impacted the clients served by that program. Owatonnabill wrote back that it had made no difference at all in the quality of service provided, and that if it forced Social Workers to be better stewards of the public nickel, then owatonnabill applauded the cut. No more Emails were received asking owatonnabill to share his experiences. This is a fish from the same kettle. It is not what we spend, it is what we waste. If this sequester (which many earnestly hope DOES come to pass) happens, the worst that will happen is that we'll be forced to be a bit more responsible with the tax money we throw around so irresponsibly.

Surprising, an article which is balanced and not biased finger pointing at one side or the other. Which by the way is the problem with the masses, myopic zeal for their own perspective and finger pointing at the other side. The House of Representatives represents the citizens of the U.S. Why the surprise about lack of compromise. This could be easily solved, if more people considered the words of Steven Covey and his principles for success, "Seek first to understand, then to be understood!"

"Get your party on board to get to work and stop the finger pointing." I think that is good advice to the Finger Pointer in Chief. Remember the balance of revenue and cuts he talked about? He got his increase revenue. Where are those cuts he was talking about? All he wants now is to raise taxes yet again.

No worries. Here's the definition of sequestration... Sequestration /ˌsēkwiˈstrāSHən/ Noun 1. The threatening action by the political ruling class of taking forcible possession of otherwise available and adequately funded essential services by claiming an automatic 4-6% budget increase rather then the usual 6-7% increase should be perceived as a "draconian cut" and thus creating the illusion there is insufficient money is available. 2. Enlisting the willing lap dog media to whip-up the American people in a frenzy by reporting essential services will be unavailable unless the amount of a readily available drug supply known as "greenback" is further increased

wowjustwow said: "His estimated year five budget deficit is estimated at 1.4 trillion right now"------- Since you posted this nonsense in two places, I'll correct it in both places - this year's deficit is estimated by the CBO to be $845 billion, so you are wrong by over half a trillion dollars!

Can we cut out the nonsense about this being "cuts" to the federal budget. This is a cut in the rate of growth. There are no baseline cuts in the budget due to sequestration.

@hawkeye56379 - What's really nonsense is the simply fact that we're running such huge budget deficits whether it's $845 billion or $1.4 trillion - the fact that you call it nonsense is truly enlightenting as to how people have become so willing to accept these budget deficits and why no one cares to talk about real budget cuts.
