The Maple Valley, Washington woman, Sandra Sutton-Wasmund, who was a customer in the taxi cab who died in the fire was a two time breast cancer survivor. Both her mother and her sister died from breast cancer. She was also a mother of 4 and a wife. She was a small business owner and she was in Las Vegas for a trade show. She was also a champion for small business in her town of Maple Valley, a Seattle suburb. Many of her friends said she was the greatest person, "a 1st round draft choice" said one of them.
The article doesn't mention if the suspect was able to legally carry a gun. You know, because after all if there were tougher gun laws in place this wouldn't have happened. (Sarcastic harrumphs abound).
