Look - Obama has been President for over four years. Each of the four years has had deficits exceeding well over $1 trillion. Obama has failed to meet the legal requirement to submit a budget for three years now. If Obama wanted different spending cuts, he has had more than enough time to include them in budgets and proposals. For him to now warn of "dire consequences" is his political gamesmanship and nothing more. The guy is arrogant and without any real intelligence.
Sequester: It's like asking a person who earns $38,000 a year to reduce their spending by "whopping" $750 a year (that's cutting your spending by $28 every two weeks).
Read Bob Woodward's new editorial. He proves the sequester was the President' s idea. Incredible lack of truth telling to blame Republicans for it now.
First of all: It is not a cut at all. It is a reduction in the increase in spending! Base line spending is the gadget in DC. 2% change is not catastrophic . Politics
The "Community Organizer" is really good at placing the blame on every one except where it belongs, himself.
If we were really serious about this, we would also include two less days of social security per month; one less day unemployment per week; freeze on non emergency related Medicare procedures. Also, freeze all federal government non emergency travel, including Members of Congress, their staffs, and Judicial. Personally, I think these agencies should actually shut down entirely for the day, and not stagger the hits. Shut down the border for a day... Sorry, no FBI Fridays. No anti terrorism on Thursday. No TSA inspectors on Saturday... Or air traffic control on Sunday. Want a disease free work place, or chemical free food for your kids.... Sorry, not today. That would be sweet to sit back and watch it all unfold.
Republicans need to stop acting like they won, the dems won and taxes on the rich need to go higher like it was in the past when the economy worked much better!
The sequester was a result of the GOP’s wrangling over the debt ceiling in the summer of 2011, when Republican leaders — who had previously passed clean debt increases 5 times under President Bush — demanded spending cuts as the price for averting a costly default. On the brink of default, Congress passed the Budget Control Act, which enacted immediate spending cuts and created a supercommittee tasked with striking a “grand bargain” to reduce the deficit. Republicans walked away from the committee after refusing to consider tax increases on the wealthy, setting sequestration into motion.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Chicken Little, pick our own analogy. Why no stories on the cause of regressive gas prices and inflation, does anyone at the Trib go to the grocery store? These issues really harm the poor and middle class. This president has no plans to govern and attempt to help the people of this country. He will only campaign and blame others in an attempt transform the USA according to his vision, a weakened nation, with the small guy paying for it through diminished life style and opportunity.
No, you cant use logic with the libs---> they just dont want the facts, as clearly expressed by Woodward's column. We are in this mess largely because of Dem policies = they ran 5 of the 6 Congress chambers from 2007-2012, plus controlling the last 4 years of the White House. Those are the facts. Last night one poster claimed it was a "trillion dollar Medicare D" (when total D spending has been barely 300 B so far) or
the "Bush tax cuts"--> when clearly the Bush tax rates produced record breaking FIT revenue in the years 2005-7, and the 2008 FY budget forecast was within 200 Billion of balancing. Then Pelosi and Reid arrived on an anti-war message, and proceeded to fund to 2 war SURGES. Recession hit a year after the Dem's ascension to power, the housing collapse within two years of their election victory.
History is history, facts are facts. Woodward's column was brutally chilling about the White House lies..............
