A few things should be noted about the Minnesota Land Trust which may have been missing in the article: 1) They are nationally accredited, which is an arduous task. 2) They monitor every one of their easements ever year.....no small feat. 3) There web site has a link to a map showing the location of every one of their easements. 4) Their choice of easements is not a random effort. It is a highly selective process, with science based and quality based criteria.

Congratulations MN on a job well done. WI is a state going in the opposite direction. Case in point is their governor's appointment of a real estate developer as head of the WI Dept of Natural Resources. Yikes!

"The bright circles represent parcels of vulnerable and valuable land safeguarded so that future generations might enjoy the same glorious natural resources that today’s Minnesotans view as a birthright." ................. Yep. Guy down the street bought a parcel of land at the edge of town only to learn ex post facto that the mosquito-breeding swale that takes up about one-quarter of it was in fact one of those "glorious natural resources". So there it sits--land now well within the city limits, surrounded by developed lots, frequented only by mosquitoes, frogs and kids throwing rocks. Gotta wonder at times.
