I have a great deal of respect for Matt Birk the football player. But when he decided to throw his political muscle behind the failed attempts to ban gay marriage and disenfranchise voters, I lost a great deal of respect for Matt Birk the person.

Birk was an okay player but seriously over rated. I did not miss him once he left the Vikings and lost respect for him as a person due to his twisted political commentary. He is an okay guy but will not go down in my book as a great Minnesotan.

Yup, lost all respect for this guy when he came out against equality. Have a great rest of your life being hateful.

another former Viking goes off to find the title the so longingly eludes the die hard 35 year fan. I'm thrilled about Matt Birk, normal family values and his recent success. 15 yrs is a great career in the NFL as a center and now a title under the belt. Congrats Matt. Stupid VIkings.

I have a great deal of respect for Matt Birk the football player. And when he decided to throw his political muscle behind the attempts to ban gay marriage, I gained even more respect for Matt Birk the person.
