Hard to believe this paper would actually print something that shows the Republicans have tried to avert the sequester.
It's sad that no matter how many proposals President Obama or congressional democrats put forward.. those proposals are disregarded as being "political" and not serious if they don't conform to the demands of obstructionist congressional republicans. But when republicans propose voiding all cuts that hurt their base, and doubling-down on the cuts that have no chance of making it past the Senate or the White House.. they're trying to avert a crisis and not score political points. Especially when you take into account the overall drubbing they received in the last election, and are receiving as far as public support for the positions each party have taken.
Why is it that they don't suggest cutting their own salaries and benefits while actually working together with the other side of the aisle while eliminating fund raising from their duties! (I don't know about you but I never voted for anyone hoping that they'd spend several hour a day fundraising!!)
