Just once it would be nice to have a football-only stadium. Looks like it won't happen in my lifetime.

Edit: A football-only stadium for the Vikings. 50 years and counting, and they still won't have one.

Sport specific stadiums are a waste of money. Why don't we just build a separate stadium for each Vikings home game so we can spend even more public money!

And before, everyone DEMANDED it not be used for "8 games a year" only. Now they have plans to utilize it more and people are still complaining. Pick-a-side people!

The people were lawfully promised by Dayton and the legislature a Peoples' Stadium that was MULTIPURPOSE. Which part of that is too difficult to understand? At the very least, while still in the design stage, the current baseball playing dimensions should be preserved but more importantly, improved upon. Currently with that stupid baggie, they are: Left Field: 343 ft; Center Field: 408 ft; Right Field: 327 ft. Make them proper! Also, hosting special-event professional soccer matches was promised as a use (even by Wilf too as he retains the rights, right?) so be certain to design the playing surface much larger than a football field. A football field measures only 120 yards long and 53.3 yards wide. The 120 yard length will require only a tiny bit of adjustment (15 yards longer at each end at the max) but the width is a huge problem with a requirement of 80 yards! So, be sure to move those sideline seats back around 25 yards on each side so we really do get a multipurpose stadium as was promised to us. And, hey, by providing the correct width, baseball gets rid of the baggie too! Then everyone wins as was promised to the citizens. Except the Vikings...they lose a lot.

Sid, the most important question in regards to the new "Peoples Stadium" has yet to be answered and that is; Where in the new taxpayer funded stadium are the vikings going to showcase their empty purple Super Bowl / World Championship trophy case??? The one and only distinction this new Minnesota taxpayer funded stadium already has and will forever have is that it is the world's biggest and most expensive empty trophy case.

Yeah, sport specific stadiums are such a waste of money. Just look at Lambeau field, Soldier Field, Gillette stadium, New Giants stadium. These stadiums are barely making it financially. Maybe they should get some pulltabs too for funding their new billion dollar stadium campaigns.

ssej329, sport specific stadiums are a waste of money when multi-purpose stadiums work fine. But I understand that's not realistic given the monopoly pro sports have. Either way its a half BILLION dollars to a PRIVATE owner. I do at least applaud that it will be used for baseball. Very small benefit.
