Very well worth it, especially for Morneau....one more hit to his head could mean the end of his career....Safety first.....

Why don't they design a helmet that has a projection on it like a point so the ball is deflected away from the initial contact point. Thus creating less of a blow to the head, but spreading the impact throughout the helmet.

What is "the" initial contact point? A batter is initially facing the pitcher so is it the front? When the ball is coming toward his head, a batter will usually turn and duck so is it the side? Sometimes the batter turns all of the way around and is hit in the back. Where are they going to put these projections that will deflect the ball? Even this new helmet, though, would not have helped Kirby Pucket when he was hit in the face. Maybe hockey goalies have the answer for that one. That would certainly be a sight to see.

On the side of the helmet where most of the balls hit someone. Kirby would have still be hit in the face with or without a helmet. Total percentage thing.

By the way we are not looking for looks, but safety of the player.
