These are not "spending" cuts - they are cuts in the rate of growth of these programs. It would be nice if the government and the media could try and be somewhat intellectually honest.

Hard to believe from someone with a budget that includes spending millions on NASCAR races.

This is good news. I look forward to more cuts to these colossal government waste programs. These are industries run by men who stop at nothing to wield immense power and steal all of our children's wealth. The Pentagon has said the #1 threat to USA security is financial stability. Not China, not Russia. Spending. Did the Iraq war or Afghanistan make us more secure? No. The less the Pentagon spends, the more secure we will be.

FORMULA FOR DECEPTION: Step 1: Devise and campaign for a mechanism for sequestration. Step 2: Grandstand the need for a budget compromise, but never submit or demand a budget from your own party. Step 3: Pretend to distance yourself from the plan you personally devised. Step 4: Oppose the plan you devised. Step 5: Blame the other party for triggering your plan. Step 6: Allow the plan you created but opposed a year ago to take effect. Step 7: Pretend the plan you created is the other party's plan. Step 8: Step back and laugh at the media that faithfully carries your water. Step 9: Laugh to yourself about the insignificance of the so-called "cuts" of sequestration. Et voila! Deception accomplished.

Quit fear mongering Mr. Panetta! I took a substantial pay cut this year because my company couldn't pay the bills. A 20% pay cut is a reality in this economy. It is just like private business, if you don't like it, find a new job. My guess is that everyone complains but doesn't quit because they all know that nowhere in the private sector will they ever find anything near as good as their government pensions. How about a pension reform? That would save some $$!

It is good to know that all these government programs are running at 100%. No fat, no waste. Every penny spent is vital. NO WAY!

It's interesting that Boehner says that spending cuts will be devastating for the military, yet they demand spending cuts? Who does he want to be the recipients of the cuts? The poor? For the Republicans it's all about the rich and both parties twist everything for political reasons. We need a smaller Congress!!! They should be recipients of the cuts!!!

Amazing. They pass $60 billion in Sandy aid and it's no big deal, but $85 billion in reduced spending (that isn't real anyways) causes the end of the world? Now consider that the Fed is printing and pumping $40 billion PER MONTH into the system and ask yourself what that might be doing to us. Seen the price of gas lately?

As part of the generation that lived through the lies of the Vietnam era - there's absolutely nothing the Military Industrial Complex won't do or say to keep the gravy train rolling - no matter how many lives it costs. Ten years plus in Afghanistan shows that they're still able to easily dupe the American people.
