The Greeks brought this upon themselves by avoiding paying taxes to pay for their living beyond their means; wages paid by the government were way too high. They expect that others in Europe bail them out, especially the Germans who tightened their belts through austerity some years ago so Germany could recover. There is and should be a price to pay for bad behavior. In addition, anybody these days who thinks that Communism is the answer to economic problems is simply crazy.

Sadly "austerity" has come to mean paying for what you expend. Economic illiteracy is a global crisis and even worse in Western countries where vast numbers of people believe their well-being and happiness originates from government.

Pay attention, Europe is only ahead of the US by a few years in this category. We are facing the same fate here, you can't spend 40% more than you are taking in (and that is what the Federal Government is doing now). Don't believe me, do some research, sad but true.

Memo to Greece: Stop protesting, and figure out how to fix your broken economy. Hint: the latter doesn't include having so much unrest that tourism goes over a cliff, since it represents about 20% of your GDP.

Who do the protesters think is going to lend them the money to allow them to continue living the lifestyles that they've become accustomed to.

Did we not see this in Wisconsin last year?

It's the mindset of the people of Greece that will doom them and others like them. I can only hope that we learn that our Gvmt supports us and is not supposed to carry us.
