Bill would help police, fire departments cover cost of military leaves

The state would reimburse departments for the cost of replacing its personnel on active duty.

Like many federal law enforcement positions, just mandate no active reservists/guardsmen allowed in the fire department. Problem solved.

How about a federal measure that would exempt fire fighters and police officers from being called to active duty through the guard or reserves?

Can't and shouldn't be be allowed in the ranks if non deployable. That's the purpose of maintaining a reserve force.
