Mr. Pohlad, Please be sure to spell LA VELLE E NEAL's name correctly on his check... Mercy. At 30, he is over the hill? Can you imagine if Peterson had years to recover from his knee injury? Trade him now...while he is STILL trying to get his legs under him...

Willingham, can attribute 20 RBI to Mauer, who is the player Willingham drove in the most, other than himself. These details are readily available online. I'd mention the source for you, but listing websites never agrees with the policia here.

It's a good thing if Mauer is healthy enough to catch more. However, I hope he brings the D of 2010 and years prior with him and not what he did the last couple of years. If we get the Mauer of 2010 (which we almost got last year), that will be a good thing indeed.

hey joe how are the knees doing eh? how about 10-15 homeruns this year, at least make the contract worth it.

tc2884, Mauer hit 10 HR last year. Id like to see 15-20 out of him with a .330+ avg and 110-120 games behind the plate

The two good pitchers the 23 mill per year would buy if Mauer somehow could be moved would pay dividends that a non clutch slap hitter in the twilight of his career ever will.

Cheerleader Joe - this isn't high school Joe but I guess the Pohlads aren't too happy with ticket sales so far.

Yes, the contract is a huge bummer for this team, but here's hoping Mauer has an even better year than last year. Might as well enjoy watching him. He is a future hall of famer.

Say what you will, but I see a much more effective Joe this year. He substantially improved his game last year and his batting steadily improved as the year went on. He will never be an all star homerun hitter, but he will win more batting titles because he does know how to swing a bat. I think we will see an improved Twins team over last year's numbers. They have a ways to go to hit the post season, but I think this team is on its way to improvement. A year or two from now we will be back in the hunt.

Do fans actually believe the Twins will be better this year? The Twins did nothing to improve the pitching staff, they traded away their two center fielders and the infield is a mess. I am sure they will drive in some runs, but that pitching staff is going to give up many more runs. Since this is Gardy's last year as manager, the front office was not willing to spend any money, hopefully they will start fresh next year with a new coaching staff and will spend some real money on pitching.
