A politician engaged in an adulterous affair? Shocking!

He shouldn't be but SC voters really don't care and he will probably be elected to something. Look at Newt Gingrich--he ran for president and gop voters didn't think twice about his numerous infidelities.

South Carolinians are the ones who will decide. South Carolinians are very forgiving--they gave Newt Gingrich a primary win over Mitt Romney....

From the article: "It’s hard to take these people [Conservatives who should know better (but) engage in sloppy or dishonest thinking] seriously in other contexts when they are this confused about such a basic concept." That's what we've been trying to tell you, Ms. Rubin....

I don't see a lot of conservatives nationally rushing to Sanford's defense. Most of them think it's dumb for him to run and would rather he just went away. But Ms Rubin, let's not forget that forgiving infidelity in politicians is hardly a conservative only trait. It was the DNC who gave Bill Clinton a prime time, keynote speech at their last convention. I suggest Ms. Rubin take her list of questions and apply it to the former President's affairs and see how the answers stack up.

Should he deserve a second chance? I say no. But let's look at Democrat and feminist left hero Bill Clinton. Clinton cheated on his wife countless times, including in the White House with Monica Lewinsky. Clinton was sued for exposing his genitals and demanding sexual favors from Paula Corbin Jones. And Bill Clinton was accused of rape by two women, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey. Kathleen Willey claims Clinton raped her in the White House while he was President. Yet Bill Clinton remains a hero of the Democrats to this day while committing more heinous offenses than Mark Sanford did and doing so many times. So no, I say Mark Sanford does not deserve a second chance and Democrat supporters have no right to comment based on their continuing hero worship for Bill Clinton, a proven predator of women.

callmeron: the reason he shouldn't get another chance is because he disappeared from office and lied both to his constituents and family as to his where-abouts so that they couldn't contact him for emergencies or even say if he was alive.

Funny, how both the left and right defend their adulterous slime. Morality it appears is relative to whose side the offender is on. And just because the 'other side' does it, does that make it acceptable for your own?

I guess lying, stealing and adultery are business as usual in S.C. Maybe he should move to Obama's home state and change parties. Sounds more like liberal behavior to me. Mr. Jackson can fund raise for him- till he goes to jail.
