Rarely do more than seven Big Ten teams go to the tournament, and the Gophers' ugly loss Sunday hurt them.

Just fold the Gopher mens basketball and football 'programs' already.

Sid...you are insulting the intelligence of your readers when you mention the Gophers and the NCAA Tournament in the same sentence. It is so painful being a Minnesota fan.

Two thoughts: Vikes have no interest in Freeney as that would go against the youth movement. And Tubby should worry about his job status, not just missing the tourney,

Sid..at some point in time reality has to replace delusion. The reality is..the Gophers aren't that good, probably weren't that good and deserving of their earlier rankings, and in reality...Smith has done nothing to enhance the MN program since being run-out-of town by Kentucky. The Gopher programs defections since Smith took over rank among the highest and talent wise costliest in the country. Continuing to talk about the Gophers and the NCAA tournament is like rearranging the deck-chairs on the Titanic....same outcome.

You're worried about getting a "good seed," Sid?? Define a "good seed?" 14th? Even if they get in they are one and done so why all the blather "still getting in??"

Good observations, Uncle Sidney, but observations that could and should have been made even before conference play began. They simply are not a good team in a conference of good teams and, once again, will finish at 6-12 or 7-11 in conference play after three more losses on the road and a couple of more losses at home as well. They are good enough to put together a good game or two to beat some good teams like Michigan State and Wisconsin but not good enough to play consistently well let alone with grit and confidence against the good conference teams. Many of us realized that early on in early season game agaisnt Duke when they were blown out by Duke, a team comparable to many of the good teams that tghey would face in conference play. I assume that even Uncle Sindey realized that at that time but... They simply are not a very good team. Period!

Barber colleges could probably give this team a haircut.

Lets see the Gophers cannot shoot the 3 , cannot defend the 3, turn the ball over 1 out of every 3 trips down the floor, are poor at the free throw line, cannot figure out how to attack a zone defense. The coach seems out coached every game. I guess this explains why they stink
