A GED might be useful for the military,
but is laugh provoking as something valued by employers.
According to the MN Department of education, 6% of adults between the ages of 25 and 64 do not have a HS diploma or GED. 25% just have a HS diploma or GED. The average income without a HS diploma was $23k, with a HS diploma $33k, associates degree $40k and with a four year degree $55k. I think the GED is probably important as a basic door opener that gets you into higher education to earn a living wage.
