Reading this article was sad and angering at times due to the many staff losses/resignations within our department. Jim Kordiak actually had the nerve to say "You can step in and feel like you are miles away from the city. City parks are for bocce ball, soccer, hockey and ice rinks. They don't provide the kind of outdoor beauty and amenities our county system does." but yet Jim fully supports the transfer of the systems founding park created by his own father to the city of columbia heights. His dads legacy is circling the drain! That transfer is in the park superintendents master plan. Have fun shelling out for that park columbia heights. We won't be maintaining it much longer. And the superintendent (our boss) would be wise to take a big step back and realize who actually got him to where he is because it certainly wasn't by his own skills. He drove away the last of his original employees from 1994 about four years ago. All went to work for other park systems and better bosses. He in turn has driven to andover from home in eagan each and every day (since 1994) in a taxpayer car, burning taxpayer gasoline, covered by taxpayer insurance, etc. BTW the torkildson golf cart story that our boss enjoys telling is barely tolerable among staff.
