A fine competitor in his day as well as being a gentleman - a rare combination, today.

Carl's a hard guy to put a finger on. At one time he ate up the limelight, signed a big contract with the Yankees and dated ,at least, one famous actress (Alyssa Milano). But now he is spending the off-season in Vermont (where he has recently raised funds for hurricane-destroyed Little League fields) which is unheard of for a major-leaguer these days. Do you think Joe Mauer has lifted a shovel since he signed his contract? I sure hope not. He spends most of the winters in Fort Myers. The point is Carl has come full-circle in his stature/attitude. He was once a playboy prima donna working the Hollywood starlets, but he seems like a genuine guy now. Irregardless, it's great to hear he is ok after this brush with death.

FYI: Great thoughts...but irregardless is not a word. It would mean the opposite of regardless..if it actually existed...

"Yankee fans ridiculed him"...really? Not this one. Remember Joe he took a lot of their/the Yankees money for doing nothing. He's the Kevin Brown of the American League.

Carl, you are truly a "class act." Please get better, sign with a quality team and do what you do best. We will miss you here in Minnesota. No excuses, no whining, just pitching-- and well done at that.

"Irregardless, it's great to hear he is ok after this brush with death." Griz: This is one of the words that upsets all of us. Please delete it from your lexicon.
