I hope Harvin is on board with this. If he isn't, the Vikings will have an underperforming wide receiver next season and then will lose him in free agency without getting anything in return. If there is any doubt about his willingness to play here we should trade him now.

As long as Harvin doesn't suffer from mental illness or alcoholism, the Vikings should offer him a guaranteed contract of around $7 million per year with incentives up to $12 million based on performance and durability. The guy is that good, but he's not worth the same money as Peterson, Megatron, or Fitzgerald if he can't stay on the football field.

Another team will take the risk and pay him money similar to what Peterson, Megatron or Pitzgerals are worth though.

CBS Sports reported today, that a source close to the Vikings said Harvin hasn't mentioned anything about a new contract. It's not about money or getting paid. Harvin even said he won't hold out of camp, because of a contract unlike what everyone else thought this week. It was also said Harvin is very upset with the Vikings passing game, and limitations of passing they have. AKA, Harvin thinks Ponder is garbage. We have the best WR in the league, after the catch and have a QB that can't throw downfield. I agree with Harvin. Percy is probably telling the Vikings to sign another QB, or I'm out of here. Sign Percy and send Ponder packing his bags.

I think any hard feelings we (the fans) may have towards Harvin, will long be forgotten by September. He should get the new contract, hopefully this will buy Ponder some time to develop or atleast buy some time for the coaching staff to figure out if Ponder is our future. I was devastated when we let moss go to the Raiders for virtually nothing, we need to learn from that, as good as Percy is, he's not Randy Moss and we will not be compensated fairly. SIGN HARVIN TO A NEW CONTRACT NOW!!

Ok, for all those who think signing Harvin is a must and that we should just go get a new quarterback to make him happy. Where is this saviour quarterback going to come from? There are no available free agents that are any better than Ponder at this point. The only two being mentioned are Flacco - and you can bet he will sign for big bucks with Baltimore and finish his career there. Brian Hoyer is the other and he's unproven. Trading for anyone else who is on the block will cost the Vikes picks and players that they can't afford to give up. Harvin either needs to play ball and do his job or the Vikes need to deal him.

harvin will sulkingly play out his final year here and then leave. frazier might come to his senses at the end of the 2013-14 season and realize ponder isn't our qb ticket. we'll then be in re-building mode. but real estate developer wilf will have his stadium and the vikes, to bemused fans everywhere, will be thought of as the chicago cubs of pro football.

He will hold out without a new contract. He plays hard, and because of that the risk of injury is there, which is why fans/teammates are in awe of his run after catch ability. Most players of his caliber don't usually play without a new deal. Pay him. He may be high maintenance but his effort on the field is second to none. Add a tall, speedy WR in round 1 and sign maybe a mid level FA like a Brian Hartline.
