In 1848, a newspaper said that printed valentines were an abomination invented by cunning people who exploited emotions to make money. That's about right still today.

I refuse to celebrate V-Day. It is a waste of time, money and emotions.

Amen. Class C holiday at best, nothing but a corporate inspired burden placed on the lap of men throughout the land. Stand up and fight men! (just don't expect to get any if you do!)

My wife and I both love Valentines day and wholly support it! It's one of the few American traditions that I don't have to suspend reality or go away to enjoy.

That's funny, at my kids school, Emmet D. Williams in Shoreview, the administration canceled all Valentine's Day activities because they were concerned that it had a religious connection to it. Yes, many parents laughed at that. But then the school chose to celebrate Chinese New Years. A holiday that has about as much relationship to religion as Valentine's Day does in the year 2013.

Valentine's day is one of the least commercial and certainly is not religious. It is about a box of chocolates, flowers or a romantic dinner with someone you love.Valentine's day was the day every kid in your class gave you a Valentine and you gave them one in return.

Why not do something really meaningful on Valentine's Day? Contact your US Representative and tell him/her to pass the expanded Violence Against Women Act!
