St. Thomas changing its bylaws to allow a non-cleric is a slap in the face to the 46 thousand priests in the U.S. There are plenty of excellent priests who are available to be president of St. Thomas. Priests are leaders of the people, and having a priest as UST president has always been a source of pride. What if the new president goes against church teaching? It's a shame.

Doesn't matter. It's all about athletics at UST anyway. Their academics have always been second rate so the position of President is symbolic at best!
