If the GOP filibusters a nominee for a cabinet post, it will be the first time EVER. Where do these people get off trying to keep a President from naming his own cabinet. And Hagel is a Republican. This anti-Obama obstructionism is becoming truly dangerous to our form of government.
Any objective observer who watched Hagel's stumbling, ill-informed, and confused testimony during his confirmation hearing would conclude that he his not competent to hold the SecDef or any other high-level cabinet position.
However, Hagel's obvious incompetence may be viewed as a plus by Obama and his allies on the left, since his confirmation will advance their goal of undermining (and ultimately destroying) an institution that has been a principal focus of their hatred for the past 40 years.
Add to that Hagel's antipathy towards Israel, his promotion of appeasement policies towards Iran/N.Korea, and his support for unilateral disarmament, and you've got -- in the left's view -- a real winner.
