I went to the 2-12 County Commissioner meeting and spoke at public comment calling this project for what it is: A bridge to nowhere. Citing the fact this land bridge has existed for over a half a century safely creating one of the 70,000 wet lands in just the Twin Cities metro area. The road has never flooded or been washed out. Calling this an environmental concern is another twist of the truth... are all wetlands, marinas, and bays going to be evaluated for fresh water access from the nearest rivers to prevent invasive plants or whatever? There are apartment complexes and subdivisions in WC with bigger populations than this island and you don't see them getting million dollar bridges. From every angle this is nothing but another waste of tax dollars on a non-essential project that'll benifit less than 1% of the population of WC. I'm surprised Mr. Giles you couldn't find any wetland environmentalists or concerned tax payers such as myself to provide the facts about the other side to this story. No one should be surprised government funded research is going to support a new million dollar government project;)
