Not even remotely funny. Shame on the StarTrib for reprinting this garbage.
Better do a thorough back-ground check... Hear he comes with a lot of baggage...
I'd probably stay in the Vatican if I were him. I'm guessing he will still get immunity if he is living there. Probably not so much in Europe or the United States.
The author should check facts. He is still a cardinal.
This newspaper would never print this nonsense if it was aimed at any other religion.
This newspaper hates the Catholic Church. Always has. No surprises with their two biased/insulting articles on the Pope the last two days.
@ buulerf @ chittybangnang if you father your brother and any male close to you was raped by these men that called them self men of GOD you would have issue with the religion to. And if this article hurts you so stop reading the Strib. no love for a church that abuse and sweeps it under the rug.
"This newspaper hates the Catholic Church. Always has. No surprises with their two biased/insulting articles on the Pope the last two days."----I don't know about that but I do know that the non-brainwashed Americans hate that the Catholic Church got away with molesting children and hiding those in their organization that were molesting children. Also there is a bit of animosity to the members/followers of the catholic church for not standing up to the leaders and demanding that they expose the child molesters so they can be brought to justice. They give the church leaders too much power and allow them to continue molesting children. The catholic church is a safe haven for practicing child molesters.
Though tongue-in-cheek the article does (completely unintentionally, to be sure) address one of the reasons why Papal resignations only happen once every 600 years or so. Popes are elected but once they take office ("Popified"?) they assume a special place and role. Two duly elected Popes hanging around at one time could lead to battles among factions in the Church, each claiming allegiance to this-or-that Pope. It has happened before. Dying in office assures a (reasonably) clean succession.

Something tells me that once he is no longer the pontiff it wouldn't be wise to set foot in the the USA. Could be charged with obstruction of justice for all the child abuse cases that were covered up on his watch.
