Congress has lost the voice of one of its most progressive members.
"Progressives" by and large do not believe in personal responsibility for anyone; see where that perverse morality landed him.
Never underestimate the ability of progressives to forgive criminals with political capital who promote certain issues they find important. This man is a crook... by any definition. People like that should have burned all of their political currency and party members should distance themselves.
The article reads like a speech about a person after they die. He sounds like he was a hard working honest representative his entire adult life, except the last couple years. I wonder if you looked into his entire career if it would be like that? Using Chicago standards he may have been an angel.
But even as he was fighting to rob the working class and hand it to the wellfare class, he was engaging in extramarital affairs, BlagoGate, coke use and pilfering millions of campaign donations. You gotta love Illinios!
Why did it take so long to get rid of this congressman? The charges are very serious and this opinion writer sounds like its too bad Jackson got caught.
jackson should have been indited last summer! His little cameo at the Mayo was a ruse to put off the , arrest, charges, plea deal until after the elections, so this this issue could not be used against Obama and the Democrats
In Illinois alone, one governor just released from jail, a second governor in jail, Mr. Jackson headed for jail. Let's not forget the mayor of New Orleans recently indicted and the former mayor of Detroit in jail and headed for more jail time. Instincts suggest these factors are irrelevant and big business are the criminals. Forgot to mention that during his Presidency, former President Clinton lost his license to practice law in Arkansas due to [I believe] prugering himself.
The apple does not fall far from the tree. His dad is egotistical and power hungry. MLK is rolling over in his grave.
What is most amazing is that he was re-elected even though he was missing in action and did not even campaign. Then again, another disgraced liberal, who was kicked out of the Illinois house for bribery was also re-elected and a dead democrat won a seat in Texas.
