I don't care much about the Olympics, but Wrestling seems like more of a staple item than whatever those people dancing around with the ribbons would be....

Bring back wrestling. It just seems ridiculous to eliminate one of the sports most associated with the damn venue!

I'm not a big fan of the sport itself but wrestling has not only been part of the modern Olympics since its inception in 1896 but it was also a part of the ancient Olympics. Getting rid of it seems like a very callous and shortsighted move on the IOC's part.

After Track and Field, there is a whole group of sports that I associate with the Olympics. Wrestling is among those sports. Why not drop a team sport or a sport with judges? Those are the venues that don't belong in the Olympics.

IOC changes all the time. Baseball and softball were ousted while curling survived...saying there is not worldwide appeal. Love those sports. It just is the way it is....another business that gets to decide what they think makes sense..end of story.

I am not a wrestling fan at all, but it immediately struck me as a bad decision. Wrestling is one of the staples of the Olympics going back to the beginning of the modern era and even back to the original games. Bad move on the part of the IOC.

So they cut wresting, a sport that dates back to ancient Greece, but they keep a sport where the primary objective is to give your opponant a concussion (boxing). Duh-oh!

wrestling IS the Olympics. If they are going to base the Olympics on what gets the best ratings, like bikini-clad volleyball players, then they should rename the Olympics to the Made-For-TV-Ratings-Athletic-Extravaganza!
