I didn't see anything in his resume that says he is qualified for the job.

marcy you don't really believe that do you? The fact Hagel is a twice-wounded Vietnam combat veteran gives him more Gravitas than every Republican Chickenhawk that will vote against him.

More GOP obstructionists at work. They couldn't stop a perfectly fine nomination from coming to the Senate floor, but there's more opportunity ahead for the anti-Obama crowd in DC.

Really? The fact that he's a war hero does NOT make him qualified. No more than being a 'community agitator' makes Obama qualified to be president. Hagel's performance at his confirmation hearing was pathetic, one of the worst in history. He couldn't even answer basic questions or get his facts straight. He had to correct himself with help from friendly democrats on the panel. Of course none of this matters to the liberals. They might as well put in one more unqualified hack into an important office, to join the rest of the crew.

"...However, late Monday McCain met privately with several committee Republicans and urged them not to filibuster the nomination, pointing out that the roles could be reversed someday with a Republican president and GOP-controlled Senate" Like that's going to happen

Anyone who listened to him at the hearing knows he is completely inept and unqualified. But, then again, so is Obama, so what does it really matter?

McCain - a wolf in sheep's clothing.

The GOP had no problem with John Kerry; he breezed through confirmation. So all this talk about GOP obstructionism rings hollow. Hagel is probably not the right guy for the job. He sure won't hit the ground running - he was clueless in the hearings.

bootsy07--The only reason Kerry sailed through was because his appointment opens up the Senate seat in MA.

Did any of these posters supporting Hagel see his entire performance in front of the Senate Committee? And you still suggest he's qualified? Even the Democrats on the panel were suggesting he was awful. He'll get approved but certainly not because he's qualified. Iran is dancing in the streets.
