It's a wonderful fitting tribute, but also very "now". We're in an era of reruns. Tom Crean, Frank Worsley and Sir Ernest couldn't turn back because their feet were cold. These men didn't think they were "heroes", they just wanted to stay alive. The glorious language came later, after they were warm and safe.
