Beginning of the end of the Tubby Smith era. What a crying shame. It'll become even more obvious when bucky badger comes in thursday and runs circles around our guys. A combination of no discipline (plenty of partying) and poor coaching.

#FIRETUBBY Gopher offense in three steps: 1. Pass ball around outside for 20-25 seconds 2. Shoot jump shot 3. If get offensive rebound, go back to step 1. If not, wait until next possession and repeat.

So they've dropped out of the top 25, no surprise with that. In fact, at tournament time, we shouldn't be surprised when they drop below the NCAA cutoff.

the sign of good coaching is that team improves as the year goes on. Unfortunately, Tubby's teams go the opposite way.

@Nckdooley, I agree with you. Don't know who talked Tubby into changing his offensive philosophy. Gophers is not a slow down, run your offense (not a very good one) kind of team. Gophers have the athletes to run a more high tempo game like they did early in the season when they were scoring in the 70s, but once B10 season started, they are barely scoring in the 50s. Watch the games, the players are just going through the motions on their picks. I have seen high school teams set better picks than that as they are not even laying their bodies on the defenders...thus, no one gets opened. For Christ sake, I have never seen a D1 basketball team that doesn't have an inbound play. Instead of trying to score off of it, they just simply throw the ball into the backcourt and run their play...the one that doesn't work! This goes to show if Tubby is hiring good coaches or just a bunch of assistants who are just collecting a paycheck. Judging by the fundamentals exhibited on the floor by the players, no effective plays, can't screen, can't shoot free throws, no inbound plays...draw your own conclusion!

What you forget is that Smith and Kill and Brewster are all the legacy of the Joel Maturi regime - the worst Athletic Director in all of Minnesota Gopher history. He ruined Gopher sports for many years because of these terrible hires. He is still on the U of Minn payroll (I think) and this is a travesty. This new AD Teague seems to be starting out just as bad.
