The Gophers were plagued by sloppiness before but now are being overcautious.

After the Lafayette game, when the Gophers showcased their poor shooting against an overmatched opponent (42% FGA, 28% 3FGA, 56% FTA), I commented that an inability to shoot well from the field or the line would doom this team to, at best, a 10-8 record. I was pilloried by commenters and received many more thumbs down than thumbs up. I don't mean to tell you I told you so, but I told you so. By the way, Nate Wolters, has scored 89 points in his last two games, and if he continues his present pace, will become the first person, since the NCAA began to count assists as an official statistical category, to average 20+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ rebounds, in two consecutive seasons. Over and out.

Wisconson just took the Gophers B10 ticket for the NCAA brackets.

I watched the Wisconsin-Michigan game yesterday, it goes to show what good coaching can do. Wisconsin, doesn't have half the talent the Gophers do, but guess what, they have shooters that you can rely on, this team hasn't. Bo Ryan one of the best and Tubby one of the worst. And yes, I noticed Nate Wolters who grew up an hour down the road, but what the heck we recruited Maverick instead.

A huge part of a basketball game is the ability to score points. Guess what? The Gophers, once again, cannot make shots from the outside...even free throws seem to be difficult. Can't score, can't win. The blueprint to defeat the Gophers is to force them to shoot from a distance of more than 15 feet...even Nebraska and Penn State could be a problem for the Gophers. The NCAA tournament isn't a lock, they need to win 4 out of their remaining 9, and I wouldn't bet on it.

Upon reading the recent articles by this writer I am starting to see bits of information in the articles that leads me to believe that the writer has been reading my posts and better able to understand what is taking place on the raised floor three feet above. We will learn in the games that follow if Smith will attempt to improve the Gophers lack of offense by adding or subtracting organized offense and if he will be playing Eliason and Mbakwe together to improve defense of the rim and paint and provide better offensive flow and high-low passing/shooting options. Unfortunately, Smith has no intention of using freshmen Buggs and Ellenson. The Gophers would have a better shot if the other Big Ten coaches would agree to not utilize their freshmen to create a more even playing field.
