2 feet of beautiful snow, especially when you can enjoy it at the start of a weekend is great FUN. 82 mph wind gusts... oh my, not much fun. Good time to huddle around the Ben Franklin.

Difference between every storm on the East Coast and a storm in Minnesota (and I've lived in both places for several winters)? 90% of that snow out east will be melted away by Wednesday. Still a lot of inches at once, but c'mon, it's a 2-3 day event and then back to normal. My point is this doesn't necessarily deserve the nation's attention for the whole weekend. Isn't there anything more important happening out in the world?

Sure it costs a lot more to bury a line but it seems like at least once a year large numbers of people in are without power. The last one just last fall with the hurricane that went through the same area.
