A very real baseball fantasy in Fort Myers

Baseball wasn't an option. Now it is. One woman's tale of a visit to the Twins' fantasy camp reveals that pining away for the game can lead to playing the game, gender and age notwithstanding.

Great story! Add Annie's and Abby's names to those of Sano, Buxton and Hicks on the list of Twins' prospects.

I had the honor of attending this years camp for the first time and meeting both of these fantastic young ladies who are also exceptional ballplayers as well as great people. Now I see why they go back year after year. See you in 2014!

I've known Abby for 12 years and Anne for the past two. They are both class acts, have the heart of a competitor, and do themselves and their gender proud. They also both exemplify what the camp is all about; love of baseball, the joy of competition, pride in 100% effort, and friendship building. MGM #31

Very cool. The fantasy camp is something that I've always wanted to do, but it just hasn't worked out. Great story!!

Very neat story. I wasn't aware of the detail/activities involved in the fantasy camp, and in my subcious mind, I didn't ever consider that females might want to attend such a camp. Great to hear that there are woman trying it, and the organization and fellow campers are encouraging it. By the way, just the way this article is written, you can just "feel" how big of a baseball fan the author is. You can't fake that. Best of luck next year!
