30-years from now I wonder if we will revere the introduction of asian carp, zebra mussels or european buckthorn as much as we revere the invasive species we call ring neck pheasants?

I really value the many times spent with my father and other relatives hunting the magnificent pheasant. From the time I was old enough to be the "dog" (i.e. helping to walk thru the corn fields in between adults with the guns), to finally be allowed to carry a shotgun, to my fathers last hunt, to my last hunt, many an enjoyable day was spent in the pursuit of this very colorful bird. It never failed to excite me when this bird would flush with a loud cackling and explosion of wings. I am truly an example that if you hunt with your kids, you do not have to hunt for them. Growing up on a farm it afforded me many opportunities to do this. I was not able to do the same things for my children as I did not continue farming. I see a proud tradition continuing with some of my grandchildren. Very nice to see.
