OK folks, it's debate time. There is a huge controversy about using drone strikes to take out Americans who are designated as terrorists (have killed other Americans and are a threat to do so again). The controversy is of course doing so without due process. We seem to be legitimizing doing so in the debate so far. OK? In the case of the CA rogue cop: What if he was located holed up on that mountain with lots of weapons and could potentially cause additional harm to others? Would it be legitimate to call in a drone strike to take him out? Does it matter that a terrorist is on American soil?
So far they haven't done a great job of positively IDing people before they start shooting. I know this is really scary but still - it's good to know who you shooting at FIRST.
sounds like the authorities so far are shooting first and asking questions later. if this guy wanted to create a panic, mission accomplished.
Would Obama's proposed gun background check have stopped this guy? What do ya do when one of your own becomes a defective unit?
To save innocent lives maybe we need to take assault weapons away from the cops and give them tazers.
No legislation could have prevented this. I'm not against background checks, that's perfectly fine... but can we agree that we can't "stop this from ever happening again"? It sounds good, it's "what we want to hear", but is it possible? No. People are unpredictable. Everything else, maybe we can predict; but no matter how we profile, no matter how we look, the same experiences affect people differently. People are unpredictable, there's nothing we can do about that, and sometimes they are going to do terrible things.
For anyone who thinks Californians that own guns are going to sleep easier ..Those cops that got shot were both armed and wide awake!
I just hope they can stop him. I don't care how they stop him just stop him!
Yet another "good guy" with a perfectly legal arsenal of weapons has suddenly become a "bad guy" with a perfectly legal arsenal of weapons. Funny, that.
This was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm just surprised it doesn't happen more often than it does (gun rampages).
