Christie's been making jokes about being fat as a means of deflecting the clear dangers of morbid obesity for a long time. Clearly, if his assertion that he's been "dieting for 30 years" is true, he's either on the wrong diet or he's fudging the truth. Morbid obesity is indeed an imminent and grave danger to his health and deserves to be scrutinized by the public. I suspect that his outrage at a doctor for telling the peeled-back truth is a function of his own denial. What she said hit too close to home, in other words. One also has to wonder how disciplined his job performance could be when he's clearly out of control with his eating/lifestyle. The stress of presidency defies description and stress combined with morbid obesity is a lethal combination by anyone's standards.
