In contingency cases, law firms may go a long time between payments for victory. Who gets paid first, and how much, can be a delicate matter.

You left out greed, greed, greed, greed and greed. I think that's the name of a lawfirm somewhere.

Greed and Sons, LLC Seriously, Lawyers are important if you need one, but most of the time it is the paralegals and secretaries doing the work.

I own my own business and waiting for cash until there is a sale is difficult. These guys did a lot of work on the come, taking the risk of loss for their clients. They deserved the payout. NOW, what conversations went on between the partners that resulted in the lawsuit is another question. But, I sympathize with the owner when he says the banker has to be paid first. Same in my business.

Tow famrers sue each other over a cow and the lawyer sits and milks the cow until the case is settled if ever. Meanwhile, the lawyer gets the milk everyday and eventually butchers the cow and eats the beef! It is all about greed and who get the cow at the end!

But your analogy isn't quite right. When it's a contingency case, the lawyer isn't milking the cow during the dispute. The lawyer is getting nothing unless and until the dispute is resolved in his client's favor. Hopefully the proceeds from the milk will pay the fee then. But there isn't "double-dipping" the way you suggest.
