If a 1.375 reduction in sales tax is worth 146.1 million why not ax the 5.5% left at a cost of around 600 million more? With a projected Dayton budget of almost 40 billion for 2 years the 1.5 billion 2 year sales tax would be an easy amount to overcome. It would probably pay for itself in business and state accounting that wouldn't be needed. A plus would be the attraction to our state of new businesses and their tax paying employees to replenish our sagging rate payer base.

notamax - stop thinking logically. The sales tax is used as punishment against poor people to make up for the lack of income tax that gov't gets from them. That is why we have an income tax. That should be eliminated and then have a sales tax on most things. no food or regular clothing. only exception. those are needed.
