Even Rybak saw the writing on the wall. Prediction; if he runs for governor, he will lose to Emmer, who shouldn't have a chance. I feel sorry for politicians who make stupid decisions because they feel that some 'legacy' will be lost. I always voted for Rybak, but this issue is the stupidest thing he ever promoted.

quinneroo - I really appreciate your comments as you clearly are educated on the financial means of stadiums and there municipal purpose. The stadium will likely be used on a daily basis for concerts, highschool sporting events, NFL games and conventions that require large space. These are all revenue generating events - it's about cash flow inside and outside of the stadium. Now, we can be absent of said revenue without a stadium and continue to tax our local community and watch them move to Texas or Florida. I really lack the interest in turning Minneapolis into a small Nebraska town, as a resident of downtown I can promise you have first hand experience in paying higher taxes and watching those taxes turn into development. And you know what big guy, I am going to pay higher taxes again and I am glad to do it.

Mortenson should get the contract! They are a local business with ties to Minneapolis. Keep the money in MN!

Considering MN tax payers are footing the bill for this project it would be a disgrace not to reward the construction to a MN company. Keep the money here.

First, JoeMac, the Vikings weren't going anywhere. They couldn't. It was an empty threat. Second, They bypassed the voters. Just plain wrong if not illegal. Third, the Metrodome already handles those events, they aren't money makers and it was paid for. Fourth, there will be no development because of this construction. My son has a restaurant/bar four blocks from the dome. All the businesses wanted residential/retail. They consider the dome a development blocker. Fifth, I live downtown also and I believe this will be a backbreaker financially for the City.

haven't the funds from the pull-tabs come up short because they haven't been installed in many locations? hope to see Mortenson get the job, but I have a bad feeling that Hunt will end up with it..i've been getting the vibe that they basically want their own copy of Lucas Oil stadium, but i hope i'm wrong, we need something unique!

The Vikings have needed a new stadium here for a long time, It's too bad they can't put slot machines inside because that would most assuredly drive revenue. I don't know about anyone else but I'd like to see a Superbowl here.

Who will be in charge of counting the 'heads' of these 'thousands' of unemployed union workers? It doesn't take that many to p u scrap nails,I suggest it be Dayton since he represents the "peoples" stadium.

"haven't the funds from the pull-tabs come up short because they haven't been installed in many locations?".....................The receipts are woefully short, even after they lowered the expectations. Add that to the fact that they are expensive to install and they bastardize existing paper tabs, plus bars are just saying no (my sons places for one) and you have massive failure. Next stop, property taxes.
