Claims that different batteries would affect weight and fuel efficiency are not true! Switching to safe nickel-metal hydride batteries used in 6.5 million hybrid cars without any problem would add only 30 kg to the 200 t Dreamliner. Eqiuvalent of a single suitcase! Dreamliner batteries are so small (2.2 kWh and 30V)that their weight makes little difference. Li-ion batteries with a potential of fire when something goes wrong are bad choice for an airliner!
