I've noticed the past couple of weeks that the Target on 66th and Cedar was visibly busier than it was right before Christmas. I'm not surprised if people are shopping the low-margin stuff. Some of Target's grocery prices are lower than the other stores; frozen and dairy in particular. I'm not likely to buy meat or produce at Target, but I will buy the stuff they have cheaper, go to Cub to buy the stuff they have cheaper, and go to Costco for the big lots I can store on shelves or in the freezer. I buy enough at a time, infrequently enough, that the time and the gas to make 3 trips doesn't offset the savings.
