riverbirch: we're no longer laughing. After two years of watching Kill coach and recruit, I now sleep like a baby. Wake up every two hours and cry. If Kill has a winning plan, he's yet to show it. It's not about talk, it's about results (B1G conference wins).

Winning six games and getting bowl eligible is progress. Coach Kill knows what kind of kids he needs (body type, skill set, background, etc) and he's going out and getting that kind of kid. I'll take that over the Brewster approach any day.

Much harder to turn around a football program than a basketball program. Tubby has proved beyond a reasonable doubt he can't coach. I'd give the Killer another year or two. I haven't given up on him yet. He's now using the players he's recruited so let's see how he does. But I don't expect the Gophs to win the Big Ten. A reasonable expectation would be to win a fairly big bowl in the next couple years. Northern Ill got to a big bowl with the Killers players. It's a tougher challenge in the Big Ten but give it a chance. Could happen if the Killer somehow could land a stud QB.

This is about as good as it will get here in Minnesota. The Gophers ranked last in the Big Ten partly because they only signed 19 players. The average star-ranking was at 2.74. I think we will see averages between 2.7 and 2.8. They might get an occasional 4-star, but probably never a 5-star.
