The bridge has been approved and construction is scheduled and actually ongoing. For cities and counties to donate money to an organization as misleading and loose with the facts as the St. Croix Coalition is beyond fiscally irresponsible. All residents should hold their city council representatives responsible for such an absurd expenditure. The bridge will cost the taxpayers of Minnesota and the USA over 700 million when the upgrades to 36 are required over the next decade due to the necessity to bringing those roads into allignment with the super highway mega bridge. The absurdity of this project just won't go away. The St. Croix Coalition invoked an hysterical fear of an organized opposition to the huge bridge even after they had helped destroy the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act with the Klobuchar exemption and of course dipped into Stillwater TIF money to pad the pockets of the Mayor's own private lobby. Stop the bleeding, stop funding the Mayor's pet lobby so he can buy coordinated T-shirts and parade them around Stillwater. The efforts to pass this absurdly unnecessary massive expenditure to solve the relatively minor transportation problems around Stillwater have been beyond tawdry and have revealed the worst in Stillwater's city government. The entire bunch have proven their inability to grasp the larger issues of development trends and the contemporary solutions to transportation infrastructure. If there ever was a time to throw the rascals out it is now as they continue to throw more public money after a bad project. Enlightened, educated and contemporary thinking individuals are needed to change the misguided Stillwater council.

So the taxpayers get screwed AFTER being screwed when they passed the dang bill. Don't ya just luv it? Next thing we'll see is two kiosks. One at either end of the bridge manned by Bachmann on one end and Walker on the other, hands extended collecting the toll to cross the bridge from the daily motorists.
