Will Rybak and Meg Tuthill allow real TAILGATING or just allow RAILGATING so that they can further exploit fans with high prices and high sales taxes in Mpls.

Ignore that giant Metra station across the street, or the giant parking ramps that surround Soldier Field. What better use of lakefront property than occasional parking spaces? Da Bears, indeed.

Tailgating has become more andmore restricted. Up until a few years ago, people we tailgating all over including at meters and there were minimal problems. Now there are only a couple lots where you can grill. Those Go for $40 per spot. The are rumors of some of those lots going away in the new development. Many of the core Vikings season ticket holders are avid tailgaters, including me. The Vikings are keeping quiet about tailgating options for the new stadium. If my suspicions are correct and it becomes even more restricted, there are going to be a lot of pissed off fans. There is this, and the talk of the team rewarding loyal fans that have spent thousands of dollars on season tickets over the years with charging them seat licences. Come on Vikings. You got your stadium. Take care of the fans.

The whole point of tailgating is to have something to do while the parking lot clears out. When you have a decent transport system, you don't "need" it. You can instead focus on cooler things like park spaces and areas to hang out. The rail gating is sort of a half-way point to prepare people for a really great experience when the new stadium is built. They're just trying to see how much willingness there is to use the light rail system as an entry and exit point to the stadium area and build up the expectation in people's mind that there is stuff going on with the rail corridor.
