Seems like the cops could have just gone to visit some of their pot smoking friends to observe their reaction. I would liken it to giving a person a couple beers to gauge their reaction. Poor decision making on the part of the cops but does it rise to the level of a million dollar payout? No.

I love the irony: it's ok, safe and "doesn't hurt anyone" to smoke pot if it's for the benefit of the cops to learn how to spot people doing it so they can arrest them for doing it, but if you do it on your own it's dangerous and criminal. What a sad joke the "war" on drugs has been. The only thing it's accomplished is job security for thousands and thousands of cops while wasting billions of dollars.

The actions of law enforcement seem bizaare at best. However, who is going to pay this million dollar lawsuit...the taxpayers? Is this another way for lawyers to make money off the struggling government? Why not have the attorney general investigate this? I would prefer to see the lawsuit money going towards drug rehabilitation programs.

I agree - this is really on the bizarre side of law enforcement practice. Not bizarre enough to worth a million.
