Yes, this year is an anomaly. Last years class was much larger and well regarded. Of the 27 commitments the Gophers signed, 10 were from Minnesota. Seven 3 star players, and the other three were 2 star players, as rated by Rivals.

Jerry Kill has done nothing to improve the program. Brewster was given a short leash...and so should Kill.

NDSU got Lakeville zach ziemer 6 5 290 OT over miami ohio & Prescott wisc nick Jacobson DT 6 5 295over Pittsburgh both metro area kids that gophers asked to walk on. They were overlooked plus Moorheads rb chase morlock as well with 1800 yrds 28 tds. Minnesota was down this year for hs d1 recruits

The Gopher football program will always be second class. Why would a 4 or 5 star athlete choose the Gophers over Michigan, Ohio State or Nebraska when those schools content for titles and produce professional players?

Would it really matter if there were more D1 players coming out of MN? We have never kept them here in years past anyway

The urban schools put no money into their middle school football programs. The urban coaches run these football programs on virtually nothing.
