Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, and on that day President Obama snubbed Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but did agree to appear on David Letterman's show.
Now we're learning that yesterday, you know, on 9/11, MTV confirmed that although Obama can't find time to meet with Netanyahu, he has found time to attend a fundraiser with Jay-Z and Beyonce:
************* Maybe Netanyah can return the courtesy
Honestly, it is silly there is so much drama surrounding this. In this day and age it's almost pointless for Obama to have to go anywhere. And indeed, every time he takes a trip anywhere you hear the right complaining about all the money he's wasting and that he could just make a phone call or do a video conference (even though the money is minimal in the grand scheme of things). Now they are complaining that he hasn't gone to Israel. Who really cares? He already talks to Netanyahu regularly. Any trip he makes to Israel is largely symbolic. What's with the huge obsession with Israel anyways?
"President Obama snubbed Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but did agree to appear on David Letterman's show."
Could you please explain to me why the POTUS should travel to Israel to mark 9/11? Honestly, I find downright comical the determination of some right-wingers to interpret everything this man does in evil terms!
From postings at the time: "President Obama will mark the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on Tuesday at the White House, at the Pentagon, and at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.[Obamas spent the MOnday and Tues AM visiting memorials and veterans.] Between 2:15 PM and 4:40 PM, the President will make a closed-press visit with Wounded Warriors who are being treated at the hospital and their families." Later,Obama and Beiden met with Panetta. At the end of the day, he dropped in on a popular late-night comic. Israel wasn't attacked on 9/11; we were.
