"The President doesn't draw up budgets, thats the job of Congress". Obama was required to submit a budget by today. Please don't tell others how government works until you figure it out.

"You guys don't care about Chicago, any other inner city or mass shooting." @blackmanrep - I live in North Minneapolis and have spent more than a dozen years working with at-risk youth, homeless youth, parenting teen moms and both gang kids and teen prostitutes looking to exit the life. The majority of all of the above are youth of color. Try again.

So it is easy to see why the Republicans lost the election! It echos in every new issue with their whining and complaining. Oh well, glad to have our President in Minneapolis.

"Can you direct us to information profiling how many of Chicago's guns come from WI, IN, IA and etc"....................Google Cook County Sheriff or Chicago police chief.

"you say the problem is all of the scary guns that are purchasable in Wisconsin. Were that the case, why aren't we hearing about the 500+ shooting deaths a year in Kenosha? Guns aren't the problem in Chicago; Gangs are the problem in Chicago."********** No, I'm saying if you guys want to shift focus from the guns to the criminals. Then we have to acknowledge how the guns get into the hands of criminals. Let's talk about the gang murders by knives... There are knives in every household, they are cheap, there are no bans on knives and the police aren't arresting people in the street with small knives. Why are guns the murder weapon of choice if a knife would be easier to acquire? Republicans should stop deflecting and admit that they are willing to have a senseless gun violence just to have their pro-gun stance. You guys don't care about Chicago, any other inner city or mass shooting.

Wow, what an open discussion...all the Republicans were locked out...all the people deciding what to do with our gun laws were Democrats. Way to bring people of different political viewpoints together; it's just sad to see politics being decided in an echo chamber where everyone agrees with each other especially when we have such good congressional members from the Republican party that might have differing viewpoints like Paulsen and Kline. Nope the were locked out so no can challenge the big city Democrats, even the out-state Democrats like Peterson were left out of the conversation due to their "doubts" on Obama's legislation.

""Guns aren't the problem in Chicago; Gangs are the problem in Chicago.""-----------Much too simplistic and easy to believe. Poverty and socio-economic status, along with illegal drugs are the problems. The uptick in voilence is for most part a ripple effect of the bad economy, which is hitting poor and lower income people the hardest, which, in a city like Chicago, means minorities. Legalizing drugs and controlling their supplies and distribution, along with an appropriate tax level, would eliminate the crime that comes from it. Economic opportunity along with the ability to advance your position in society would take away the incentive to participate in illegal activity, and the need for guns. That is it in a nutshell.
