How can they make new laws, when they can't enforce the ones they have? No to more control when you can't enforce the ones you have.
"the city with the strictest gun control laws can be the murder and gun violence capital of the country."...................Chicago has an horrendous problem with violence and gangs, but he is absolutely correct about the gun laws and acquisition. We need national, strict, uniform laws so the at the flow of guns from neighboring States (Wisconsin in this case) don't happen. It was similar to the smoking ban in MN, when everyone went to ND as an alternative. Universal background checks with no loopholes, on a nation wide basis. You know, like LaPierre supported after Columbine.
Re: Chicago is proof that gun control emboldens violent criminals..... Gun crime increased when gun bans expired in Chicago
Re: How can they make new laws, when they can't enforce the ones they have? .....NRA backed legislation stands in the way of enforcing current gun laws. Do you know that it is not mandatory for gun shops to inventory their arsenals?
"'Chicago proves that gun control laws aren't tough enough in surrounding states.' Despite the absurdity, don't expect the press to focus too intently on Chicago, its gun control laws, its gun violence, or the absurdity in liberal explanations like that provided by Mr. Axelrod."******** If that explanation doesn't make sense to you... can you please explain where the guns are coming from and how do you think the guns are getting in the hands of gang bangers in Chicago? No one on the right seems to think this through because all the illegal guns were once legal guns. How do you think that transition happened?
Qunieroo---We need national, strict, uniform laws so the at the flow of guns from neighboring States (Wisconsin in this case)---Can you direct us to information profiling how many of Chicago's guns come from WI, IN, IA and etc?
In regards to lowinfovoter.s question. It does not matter where the guns come from, Its called a "Black Market that will never ever be stopped"! A 100% ban would create a National Black market that would spawn Chicago violence Nation wide. Criminals will"always" find a firearm. Just like the drug war, Illegal drugs are not purchased over the counter, But a person can find it on most street corners of any city!
To blackmanrep and lowinfovoter -- you say the problem is all of the scary guns that are purchasable in Wisconsin. Were that the case, why aren't we hearing about the 500+ shooting deaths a year in Kenosha? Guns aren't the problem in Chicago; Gangs are the problem in Chicago.
""Can you direct us to information profiling how many of Chicago's guns come from WI, IN, IA and etc?""++++++So, let me get this straight, you want to see data showing where the guns are coming from to argue against collecting data about where all of the guns are coming from? Thanks for summing up the absurdity of the arguments from the NRA veiwpoint. It's true that after Columbine, LaPerrier was heavily pushing for gun registration and background checks to create national databases, then has faught for just the opposite the whole time after that. Knowing both sides of this issue, I have come to one basic conclusion. We've tried it the foolish NRA way and the result is huge numbers of death and murder for too long. Time to try something else.
wildcountry - "So, let me get this straight, you want to see data showing where the guns are coming from to argue against collecting data about where all of the guns are coming from? Thanks for summing up the absurdity of the arguments from the NRA veiwpoint"****************Absurd? Hardly. Prove the statement - Per the anti-gun nuts, Chicago's guns come from out of state. Prove it. What's next, ban guns in all states and then say the US has gun problems because of other countries? Duuuuuuuhhhhhhh again.
