Sid Hartman: U assistant saw greatness in Ray Lewis

  • Article by: SID HARTMAN , Star Tribune

No doubt the player receiving the most media attention at the Super Bowl is Baltimore's Ray Lewis, set to retire after 17 NFL seasons. He is regarded as one of the greatest linebackers ever but will always be tied to his plea bargain against a murder charge in 2000, and a performance-enhancing drug accusation this past week again has drawn his character into question.

I didn't renew my FB and BB season tickets after 30 years each and I didn't get a phone call, email or text from anyone - Aspire or anyone at he the U. My wife cancelled Sirius/XM after 2 years and has been hounded to renew for many months.

Sid, how is Ray Christenson doing? We surely miss his voice on the Gopher broadcasts. Perhaps you have written about him in previous articles. But if not, could you please let us know how he is doing. Give him kudos from his faithful fans. We miss hearing his voice on CCO!

Ray Lewis..great guy???..was involved in 2 murders in Atlanta..can you say O.J.??..fathered 6 children by 4 women..has 2 foundations, largely to build a better image and doesn't fund a dime of it with his $7.2 million salary..however,he can play football,so all can be forgiven and he's a great guy..I will be all "great guyed" out by the networks today and I won't make it out of the 1st quarter..

This is what gets nauseating. Now all of a sudden Ray Lewis is a great guy, a wonderful human being of high character? maybe Coach Miller should talk to the families of the two guys that were murdered and explain how great was just hanging out being loyal to his friends. I lost respect for Coach Miller after reading this. if Ray Lewis had character he would have done the right thing and stood up for the two families.

Hilarious! Sports Illustrated doesn't consider the University of MN to be a major university!
