Hedgehogs aren't as good a pet as they look. They're nocturnal and don't like being awake in the daytime. The best advice: wash your hands.

Actually, hedgehogs make great pets. I had one for years and manage a pet store. They are nocturnal, but you can easily switch the to be awake during the day time. They do not require a ton of attention, are rather clean and make very little odor. They are easy to feed as they have a wide range of foods they love, from prepared pelleted hedgehog diet to scrambled eggs and canned cat food to crickets and mealworms. They are quiet, too, making them perfect for kids rooms and apartments. And they're just too adorable for words! It's just common sense to wash you hands after handling any animal.
