In shortened NHL season, effort beats aesthetics

All the traveling and all the games leave little time for dizzied NHL coaches to work with players on finer points.

I guess I have to change my perspective. This isn't like MLB where you have month of spring training or even the NFL where you have atleast three weeks of training camp. They had no exhibitions and little or no training camp and we are expecting them to be "clicking" together? Get a grip people..it will take time.

Agreed lindy! They need to concentrate on having fun and being where they are supposed to be. Once they get it together, look out the rest of the NHL!

And that is why so many of the negative rants in the Comments to these articles are so misplaced and out of touch with the reality of this season. Enjoy that we have A season and a team that's worth watching!

I'm pretty sure Mikael Granlund was playing full time in Houston during the lockout prior to the start of the NHL season.

Yes granlund was playing against AHL lifers big difference against Ryan Flynn oh what he was sent to the ECHL and ilya kovalchuk who was threatening not to come back from the khl.

ml1snyder - Hitchcock was talking about NHLers who played regularly, not a rookie who has never had a training camp or exhibition games to get up to speed. I think that's why the Wild figures he will gain more begin with the NHL team vs. the AHL.
